Madisonville Community College’s physical library space is the Loman C. Trover Library, located in the Learning Resource Center on the North Campus.  The Loman C. Trover Library is a welcoming environment for all who enter its doors.  All patrons are asked to please be respectful of all others’ rights to use the library, and to be mindful of the following:

Cell phone use: Please silence your cell phone.  If patrons need to make phone conversations, we ask that they do so out in the lobby as not to disturb other patrons who may be studying or reading.

Food and drink use: Patrons are allowed to bring food and drinks inside the library, provided they are mindful of any messes and spills, and that patrons will clean up after themselves.  Messy foods like soup or chili will not be allowed inside the library.

Children: Patrons are allowed to bring children into the library, although they must be mindful that the library is a college library. Materials have been chosen primarily to meet the needs of adult students, although the library does provide a collection of children’s books. Parents, guardians, or caretakers are responsible for children’s access to library resources and for their behavior in the library.  Close supervision of children must be provided at all times.  The library staff cannot monitor children.  Parents will be asked to remove their children from the library should they be disruptive or distracting to others.

Computer usage: All patrons, including students and employees of Madisonville Community College, as well as community patrons, MUST adhere to the KCTCS Information and Information Technology Responsible Use Policy and the KCTCS Intellectual Property Policy while using the computers in the library.  If patrons are reported to the library staff as accessing materials that are disturbing to other users, they will be asked to cease and may be asked to leave.

Study rooms: The library has two private study rooms that students can use either for individual or group study.  One of the study rooms is equipped with a TV and a DVD player, and a CD player.  The study rooms are for students and staff only.  Community patrons are not allowed in the study rooms unless permission is given by the Library Director.  Students and staff must check in at the Help Desk to use a study room.  The study rooms are booked for 2 hours at a time.  Rooms can be used for longer than 2 hours, but users must notify the Help Desk after 2 hours is up to request it for longer.
