Detailed instructions:

Oxford Reference is an online collection of reference books, including encyclopedias and subject dictionaries.  You can use Oxford Reference to look up terms or to find out general information about a subject.

Once you log onto Oxford Reference, you can either do a quick search in the search box on the right, or you can select a topic from the list of subjects from the left to see what reference books are available for that subject.

Search Results

If you do a quick search, the search results show you a list of definitions and short reference articles about your topic.

Most of the articles in Oxford Reference are short reference articles that fill you in about what your topic is about.  Some come from dictionaries and some come from encyclopedias.  You can print articles or email them to yourself.
